STROLLING TASTING AT PLUM MARKET WEST BLOOMFIELD
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 22ND, 6:30 TO 8PM | $40 TICKET

This tasting will spotlight 5 wonderful estates, from the Left Bank (Pauillac &
Saint-Estèphe) and from the Right Bank (Saint-Émilion & Castillon). We’re excited
to welcome special guests Julien Barthe, Owner of Beau-Séjour Bécot, and
Pierre-Louis Araud, Commercial Director of Famille JM Cazes estates, who will
make the wines come alive with their commentary. At Château Lynch-Bages
(Grand Cru Classé, Fifth Growth) the Cazes family has invested deeply in vineyard management, and in an amazing cellar by I M Pei’s son. The Bécot family,
owners of Château Beau-Séjour Bécot (1er Grand Cru Classé St. Émilion), is
moving in exciting directions with alternative to barrels (amphora, inverse cement
vats), whole berry fermentation, and curtailing the addition of SO2. Regarding
Château Haut-Batailley (Grand Cru Classé, Fifth Growth), Jane Anson writes in
‘Inside Bordeaux’, “Get ready to watch it take off into the stratosphere under
Jean-Charles Cazes of Lynch-Bages.” Château Ormes de Pez has been owned
by the Cazes family since 1940, always offering
terrific, consistent value. We’ll taste 10 wines
from the 2016, 2018, 2019 and 2020 vintages,
including the second labels ‘Verso’ and ‘Echo’
of Haut-Batailley and Lynch-Bages, as well as
Beau-Séjour’s sister estate Jouanin Bécot.
