2018 Arkenstone Cabernet Sauvignon 'NVD' Napa Valley

Winemaker Notes: Arkenstone, on Howell Mountain, was named after Tokien’s ‘diamond at the heart of the mountain’. Ron and Susan Krausz discovered the property in 1984. They chose to become a true estate, planting their vineyards in 1988 and completing the winery in 2008. The wine is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from the steep, eastern volcanic mountain hillsides at 1600 feet. NVD stands for Napa Valley designation. The wine is aged 22 months in French oak, 11 months by lot and 11 months after blending.

Crimson with a garnet core. This Cabernet greets you with violets, ripe red cherry, lilac and graphite on the nose. The complexity resulting from the blend of beautiful Eastern mountain vineyards translates into bright ripe red fruits, cassis and pomegranate on the front palate, seamlessly moving to black raspberry, blueberry, orange peel, dark chocolate and rosemary exploding mid-palate. Eucalyptus, fresh herbs, mocha and black cherry round out the long satisfying finish.
