Winemaker Notes: The wines shows superb fruit and spice aromas with an oaky note. Intense, full and yet delicate on the palate, the wine has a charming velvetiness. Very good ageing potential.
CRITICAL ACCLAIM
James Suckling - "Dark fruits in 2016. The DNA of long, silky tannins is alive and well here. A suave and polished style with an attractive core of flavorsome, elegant mid-palate fruits. "
Wine Spectator - "There must have been some divine intervention on the 2016 Beaune 1er Cru Les Grèves Vignes de l'Enfant Jesus because it was less affected by frost than surrounding vineyards. It has a really quite beautiful, very pure bouquet with abundant blackberry, raspberry and crushed strawberry scents laced with crushed violets and rose petals. The palate is medium-bodied with silky smooth tannin, still a little oak to be subsumed but there is superb substance on the sumptuous finish. I bet this is one of the best quality-to-price ratio wines in 2016."
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - "The 2016 Beaune 1er Cru Les Grèves Vigne de l'Enfant Jesus offers up pretty aromas of cherries, cassis, sweet loamy soil, truffles and grilled game bird. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, velvety and supple, with a succulent core of fleshy fruit and a rich and textural profile. It's a giving, generous wine that should offer a broad drinking window, but don't let its early approachability deceive, as it should be long-lived too."
