ARTISAN GROWER CHAMAGNES, EXCLUSIVELY!
WINE TASTING AT PLUM MARKET ANN ARBOR NORTH CAMPUS
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 8TH, 6:30 TO 8PM l $40 TICKET
Welcome to our glorious end-of-year tasting of French Champagne! We’re celebrating growers – family-owned estates - making tiny amounts of hand-crafted wine compared to the Grande Marques (big Champagne houses).
These authentically artisan producers from the Côte des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims include:
• Jean-Marc Sélèque, one of Champagne’s brightest young stars, based in the Côteaux Sud d’Épernay.
• R.H. Coutier, in Champagne’s Pinot Noir capital of Ambonnay, a Grand Cru commune. Their production is truly tiny, 2,000 cases.
• J. Lassalle, also in the Montagne de Reims, run by a mother-daughter team whose motto is “One woman, one spirit, one style”.
• Lancelot-Pienne, based in Cramant in the Côte des Blancs, and producing bright, refined Champagnes of remarkable purity.
• Lilbert, growing Champagne vines since 1746, also in the Grand Cru village of Cramant. Their property is under 10 acres.
• Pierre Moncuit, run by another mother-daughter team, based in the Grand Cru village of Mesnil-sur-Oger since 1889. Their Champagnes are all vintage, with no reserve wines.
• Pierre Gimonnet, whose reputation pioneered the grower Champagne category, especially for Blanc de Blancs made from old vines.
• Barnaut, a family property in the Grand Cru village of Bouzy since 1874, long-recognized for their Pinot Noir based Champagnes.
Extra Brut, Blanc de Blancs, Rosé, and vintage Champagne will be represented stylistically. And the quality will be through the roof!
